This is our story of immigration struggles and moving to Mexico so our family can be together. Thanks for stopping by and hope you enjoy!

Overindulgence....

So i admit, i don't really like the food in Mexico. I don;t like pork products, corn products, anything spicy, rice or beans. Basically all the food people eat there i don't like. Some stuff i can't stomach (tamales) other stuff i just choke down instead of starving. I eat a lot of ham sandwiches, cold cereal and PBJs. I love seafood and luckily there is a lot of that available where we live.

Now while i am here in the states i feel like i need to eat everything i have been deprived off. I swear i think about food 24hrs a day. Heck i even want to eat things i never really liked before, but since they are not available in MX i want to eat them anyways.

Candy is a big one. Thankfully i suppose for my teeth and my waistline there is not a lot of candy i like in MX. Now that i am home i am making up for it with skittles, starburst, jelly bellys, paydays, twizzlers, mike and ikes....the list goes on and on. Oh and hot fudge sundaes.....mmmmm. I must be careful or i will be a lot larger when i return 8) I am hoping the novelty wears off soon and i can resume my normal american diet.

A diet of peanut butter, ham, and seafood? Poor you! I love the food in Mexico, but I am hoping I will lose weight because I have to walk most places and won't have the money to spend on keeping junk in the house. I have decided I am going to seriously work on it once I am there. Then I will have fun finding someone to tailor my clothes, lol.

I love most food in Mexico, but you are right, the candy selection stinks. I've cut out a lot of sweets in general, but when I'm back I love to indulge in Dairy Queen or a piece of carrot cake...yum!

Yikes, I can't imagine, I love Mexican food. My favorite mexican candy is Mui-bon, I could eat them by the box and then some. Look for them if you haven't tried them before, chocolate with hazelnut filling, so delish!

LOL! When I am in El Salvador, I swear I crave all the junk that I normally don't even eat when I am in the States. I am the same way, I can't stand the food in ES either. The novelty of being able to eat anything you want will wear off in a couple of weeks. I did for me somewhat. It still hasn't worn off my waistline though! LOL.

I hear ya loud and clear! I always try to lose weight before my trips back to the US because I want to eat all I can. Kind of like getting ready for hibernation! :)

Hope you are enjoying your time there. I am going back to the States in October and already know where I am going to eat! I also have a list started of things I want to buy! LOL

I never thought you would not like Mexican Food. :( But, I can understand you. I love all American Food, except for anything that comes in a can. But, I can so relate to your dislikes. I cant imagine myself going to China and loving their food, I just cant... lol Oh, well... Cant wait to read more about your trip to the US.
